What is the point of the book? What message are you trying to impart?

That there are some types of pain from which we never completely heal, abuse being one of those types.  Ultimately, this is what I hope the book brings home to the readers because it is absolutely shocking how the majority of the population views child abuse as a tragic event that occurred but then ended. It only ended for the abuser, not the abused, who has to process and deal with the multiple layers of trauma caused by the abuse. Abrielle was affected not just physically but on many levels emotionally, as is evidenced by her relationship with Clayton and her loyalty to the ones who hurt her in the first place.
